Poker Card Game Tips
Set a target
Set an amount of money to aim for, such as twice your initial deposit. When you reach this target, or come close to it, withdraw your money and leave the table. Do not be tempted to continue playing or you could lose it all with one unlucky final card.Use four colour decks
Four colour decks may look strange at first, however it will quickly seem normal and will eliminate any chance of mistakes with flushes.Calculate the odds
If you are waiting for just one card to complete your hand then calculate the odds of achieving that card. This can be calculated by working out how many cards could complete your hand, then multiply that by two and add one.Example
If you have two hearts, the table has two hearts and two other cards, then the odds of getting the final heart can be calculated by working out that there are eight possible hearts remaining. Therefore multiply that by two and add one. So there is a 17% chance that the card will be drawn.
Now caculate what percentage of the pot you would need to stake to see the final card. If the pot is 200 and you need to stake 100 to see it, then you have to stake 50% of the pot and you should fold. If there is 1000 in the pot and you need to stake 100 to see it, then you would only need to stake 10% of the pot. As this is less than the 17% chance of getting the card you should call the bet.
